Obituary for Richard K Weinzler

Richard K Weinzler
Richard K. Weinzler – LeRoy / Brockport

Gone to Glory on November 21st at age 82, after a recent diagnosis of cancer, rejoining his beloved wife Nancy. “Together fifty years, and it wasn’t enough.” Survived by Elaine Weinzler-Francesco (Nick Francesco) of Rochester; Marcia (Michael) Barker of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter Amelia Rose Francesco; special ‘sister’ Rose Yonta Metzger of Buffalo; many nieces & nephews and great nieces & great nephews across the country; and friends. Predeceased by his brother & sister-in-law, Raymond and Katherine.

Dick was the Man Who Retired Twice, from Taylor Instrument Companies in 1984, where he was an engineer, ultimately specializing in intrinsic safety (for product development), and from Eastman Kodak in 1996, where he was an engineer specializing in intrinsic safety (for component purchasing). He was a long time member of the Instrument Society of America, and was instrumental in writing several Underwriters Laboratory standards and practices.

He was an active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, LeRoy, for over 40 years: Vestryman, Warden, Senior Warden, Treasurer, and choir member. He was a founding member & Treasurer of the LeRoy Christian Community Project. He was a Tennessee Squire, Lynchburg, TN. He and Nancy enjoyed playing golf and taking road-trips. He excelled in cabinetry and woodworking; and at cutting diabolical jigsaw puzzles, as did his father. In recent years, he designed and built wooden clockworks. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings, dining out, and ‘major beef’.

Family and friends are invited to call 4-7 pm on Fri, Nov. 28th at Cameron Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott St (Rt.19) LeRoy; and to a Memorial Service on Sat. Nov. 29th at 11 am St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Main St., LeRoy, NY.
